Partner development through the API

As a partner, you'll integrate with the Vipps MobilePay API platform to build solutions for your merchants. This page provides an overview of what you need to get started with your technical integration.

Before you begin

Make sure you've completed the partner signup process and received your test environment credentials. If you're just starting out, see Become a partner for details on joining our partner program.

Understanding API keys

Partners work with different types of API keys depending on what you need to do:

  • Merchant keys and Partner keys - Used to integrate APIs on behalf of your merchants
  • Management keys - Used to manage merchant relationships and create sales units
  • Accounting keys - Used to access merchant transaction and settlement data

Each key type has specific permissions and use cases. See: API keys for partners for more information.

The integration process

Once you have your test credentials, you'll need to:

  1. Get familiar with the test environment - Set up your development environment and test the APIs using the test environment. Download the Merchant Test (MT) app to test payment flows.

  2. Build your integration - Implement the relevant APIs for your solution. The API platform page provides documentation for each product API.

  3. Complete the checklists - Work through both the product-specific checklists and the partner-specific requirements.

  4. Go through quality review - Submit your integration for review by our team before going live with merchants.

See: Integration checklist for step-by-step verification points and requirements for partners.

Guides for integrating with the API

The API platform page should guide you to the API that corresponds with the product ordered by the merchant. Go into that API section and see the examples on the How it works and Quick start guides. These you with illustrations and examples for starting with the API. You can then dig deeper to find all the details for each endpoint.
